A Little About Us
Yahoo is a global media and tech company that connects people to their passions. We reach nearly 900 million people around the world, bringing them closer to what they love — from news and entertainment to sports and finance — with trusted content, products and technology that fuel their day.
At Yahoo
News, we are focused on making discovery delightful and becoming the world’s best curator for our daily users, meeting millions more where they are. Building the world’s best guide to the internet starts with building the best team. A Lot About You Yahoo is a unique platform that requires distinct leaders. That’s where you come in. We are seeking a results-driven, audience-focused Editorial Director to lead Yahoo News UK. In this role, you will define the editorial vision and lead a talented team that curates stories from scores of UK and global partners, while producing memorable and relevant original content for British audiences — including unique editorial franchises such as Unapologetically, Is It Worth Watching? and Styled by Nicky. This editor will be hands-on — managing and mentoring a small team of editors and writers, as well as a large network of contributors and freelancers — to deliver high-quality, high-interest stories that resonate with UK audiences across News, Lifestyle and Entertainment. Top candidates combine sharp editorial judgement with a data-informed mindset. You absorb audience insights and translate them into vision. You are analytical, decisive and clear in how you lead, communicate and prioritise. Commercially minded, you understand what drives growth and engagement in the UK media and search landscapes, as well as how to deploy limited resources for maximum impact. You consistently evaluate priorities, reinvesting energy and resources where Yahoo News can achieve the greatest audience and business outcomes. This role requires an experienced manager with a proven record of driving audience growth in the UK and a nuanced understanding of its competitive dynamics, audience behaviour and evolving media environment. Your perspective, built through firsthand UK experience, will help shape how Yahoo News shows up as an aggregator and trusted guide to the internet for audiences across the UK. Stand-out candidates will be adaptable and fluent in digital publishing, audience analytics and SEO. Experience overseeing editorial operations, managing people and budgets, and turning insights into action is essential.
