THE POSITION
Our roster has an opening with your name on it

The Vice President, Marketing, Canada is part of the Canadian Leadership team and is responsible to shape and lead our brand and customer development in Canada. This includes leading a team of marketers on brand development, consumer marketing & insights, media strategy, partnerships, PR and growth marketing including cross-sell strategy across two functions: Sports betting and iGaming. This leader is responsible to build and manage an agency roster in Canada to support the business needs while leveraging US resources when appropriate.  The V.P Marketing leads the strategy and execution of two critical partnership investments with Bell Media and MLSE.  This role ensures the Canadian brand and customer strategy are strategically aligned to US, and integrated in Canadian business plans while ensuring the critical Canadian business priorities are appropriately integrated into US plans.

This role demands a dynamic leader who can lead and develop a high-performance team while working effectively to influence all levels across different functions, business units and partners.  The candidate must be consumer-obsessed, commercially minded, results oriented and must work collaboratively with the US Marketing teams and the Canadian LT to ensure the needs of the Canadian consumer and regulatory nuances are understood and appropriately prioritized in the business and marketing plan.

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Contribute to, develop, and drive the strategic vision and objectives of our Canadian business, ensuring they are understood and embraced across all key business stakeholders;
    • Monitor industry and Canadian market trends, competitive activity, and market conditions to ensure this is communicated into the US Marketing Leadership.
    • Champion the voice of the Canadian customer throughout the creative development process, ensuring that all consumer touchpoints meet customer needs and build customer loyalty.
  • Lead the marketing function including but not limited to;, attracting, retaining, and developing top Canadian marketing talent to work out of the Canadian HQ in Toronto while fostering a culture to export talent to the FD US and Flutter International.
  • Lead the execution of brand strategy and development for the FanDuel brand including development of all paid, earned, and owned consumer communication across all channels including, TV, Radio, OOH, digital and social media.
  • Ensure our RG strategy and initiatives are prioritized and fully integrated into consumer touchpoints.
  • Own the entire marketing budget and marketing & activation plans for Sportsbook and Casino; while making tradeoffs to deliver on business objectives.
  • Lead the brand & content, media teams, and agency partners to build brand recognition and differentiation in Canada while driving efficient acquisition and pushing the envelope for new areas and opportunities.
  • Ensure we continue to grow share in the Ontario market as well as quickly take leadership positions in new provinces, while being responsible for performance management of all our acquisition activities.
  • Lead all partnership relationships with Bell Media, MLSE, and sports leagues Canadian offices ensuring we create programs that build the brand and drive new customer acquisition and retention.
  • Lead our consumer research and brand KPI reporting, ensuring Canadian consumer nuances and behaviors are integrated into all our Consumer, product, commercial strategic plans while constantly iterating and improving our reporting, insights, experiments and partners, etc.
  • Be a role model for best-in-class cross functional work modelling the right behavior with how growth interacts with FanDuel US team and PokerStars in Canada.

 

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading strategic marketing or commercial functions
  • At least 5 years of management experience preferred
  • Strong leadership experience, ability to inspire confidence, build trust and develop high-performance teams
  • Demonstrated an ability to “Set the Agenda” for a function or team while influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority and managing multiple stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with C-level and senior executives both internally and externally to drive the strategic agenda
  • Proven ability to cut through noise and identify relevant and compelling insight
  • Track record of success of hiring and leading 3rd party agencies and partnerships
  • Willingness to relocate to Toronto to ensure a deep understanding of the Canadian consumer, the market and competitors and facilitate building strong relationships with the Canadian based team and with senior leaders of our partners, the Canadian media and marketing/gaming
  • Ability to work at pace when required, while also being able to step back and lead strategic planning
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
