Job Description

About Us

Nourish is on a mission to improve people’s health by making it easy to eat well. Nutrition-related chronic disease is the largest and most overlooked crisis in the world. Food can be medicine: working with a Registered Dietitian is one of the most effective interventions available, but <1% of eligible Americans use their covered benefits.

Nourish is building an AI-native, patient-friendly healthcare system centered on nutrition that improves outcomes, lowers costs, and helps people live healthier, longer lives. We launched three years ago, are live in all 50 states, and already have thousands of dietitians and hundreds of thousands of patients on the platform.

We are growing quickly, have partnered with national health insurance companies and provider groups, and have raised $115M from top-tier VCs including JP Morgan Growth Equity, Thrive Capital, Index Ventures, Y Combinator, Maverick Ventures, Box Group, Atomico, G Squared, and Pinegrove Venture Partners. Our angel investors include world-class healthcare founders from Oscar, Rightway Health, Headway, Spring Health, and Alto Pharmacy, as well as soccer star Alex Morgan and the founders from Olipop and Notion.

About the role

As a Payer Strategy & Operations Lead, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and executing Nourish’s go to market strategy with health plans and our pricing strategy. Reporting to our VP, Payer Strategy, you’ll lead high-impact initiatives across pricing, reimbursement, value-based care strategy, and launching new products—working closely with Nourish leadership and senior leaders at the country’s largest payers. Your work will be instrumental in creating long-term revenue opportunities for Nourish across existing and new products, and will shape the future of how payers invest in nutrition.

This is a full-time, NYC-based role (3–4 days/week in our Gramercy office, with some remote flexibility).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive our contracting strategy and execution: Support negotiations with payers, lead our renegotiation approach, and ensure Nourish’s contracts are structured to maximize both growth and sustainability.
  • Own our pricing strategy and analytics: Maintain and improve our pricing model, track and project reimbursement rates, and regularly report insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead our value-based care strategy: Develop and refine approaches for alternative payment models and support our Payer Partnerships team in executing against these opportunities.
  • Operationalize payer relationships: Collaborate closely with RCM, Credentialing, and EPD to ensure contracts are implemented cleanly and our teams can execute effectively.
  • Commercialize new bets: Define the contracting and pricing strategy for emerging products and ensure they’re ready to scale with payers.
  • Partner cross-functionally: Partner with teams across Nourish (e.g., Strategic Finance, Partnerships, Clinical Operations, Business Operations) to align on goals, pressure-test assumptions, and deliver on key initiatives.

We’d love to hear from you if:

  •  You have 3-5 years of experience, ideally combining time in consulting, banking, or investing and strategy, operations, or product roles at a high-growth startup.
    • Bonus points if you have a passion for healthcare or nutrition, and/or have experience in the industry.
  • You’re a first-principles thinker who loves breaking down ambiguous problems and designing solutions tailored to the business context.
  • You’re a systems-minded problem solver who enjoys untangling messy workflows and turning them into scalable, tech-enabled systems.
  • You’re highly analytical, comfortable building analyses from scratch and cutting data to tell a clear story. You focus on the 80/20 — identifying what matters most and prioritizing ruthlessly to drive impact.
  • You’re a strong communicator and project manager, able to distill complex ideas, keep cross-functional efforts on track, and ensure no ball gets dropped.
  • You’re a self-starter who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, has a willingness to plug in wherever needed, and has a strong sense of ownership.
