As a Manufacturing Engineer II on the NPI team, you will develop and troubleshoot manufacturing processes, support prototype and pre-production builds (prototype, EVT, DVT, PVT), and ensure high quality and efficiency from early development through mass production. You will partner closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Supply Chain, and external manufacturing teams to deliver DFX feedback and drive designs that are manufacturable, scalable through automation, and optimized for performance, cost, and speed at high volume. You bring experience in DFX, process design and validation, and fixture development, along with a strong interest in supporting build execution in factory environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Drive manufacturing technical readiness across NPI builds (prototype, EVT, DVT, PVT) through process development, documentation, and validationPartner with internal engineering teams and contract manufacturing partners to deliver DFX feedback, with a focus on highly automated assembly systemsSupport in-house prototype build preparation and execution, including development of assembly procedures, fixtures, and build documentationCoordinate with factory teams and manufacturing partners on the design, build, and qualification of fixtures, equipment, and highly automated manufacturing processes to support scalable productionDevelop, maintain, and release manufacturing documentation, including drawings, SOPs, PFMEAs, work instructions, qualification protocols, and root cause reportsDefine and execute DOEs, conduct failure analysis, and apply structured problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, 8D) to identify root causes and drive corrective and preventive actionsDefine manufacturing requirements for automation and MES integration, including part traceability and data collection to support quality, yield, and process controlEnsure manufacturing processes meet product specifications and quality requirements through data-driven process controls, verification, and analysisCommunicate manufacturing status, risks, issues, and build readiness across cross-functional stakeholdersSupport parallel-path and contingency efforts for high-risk milestones and build phasesWillingness to travel up to 25% globallyQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting moderate to high-volume consumer electronics products with an emphasis on automated assembly systemsWorking knowledge of injection molding, metals, ceramics, and related materials used in precision electromechanical assembliesHands-on experience with adhesive bonding, heat staking, glue dispensing, and battery assemblyExperience developing, validating, and ramping manufacturing processes across manual and highly automated assembly operationsSolid understanding of tolerance stack-up analysis for high-volume manufacturing and applying appropriate dimensioning strategies to evaluate process capabilityFamiliarity with MES systems and manufacturing data infrastructure, including part traceability, process data collection, and statistical process control (SPC)Demonstrated ability to qualify manufacturing processes, troubleshoot issues on the factory floor, and drive corrective actions to closureProficiency in SolidWorks with best practices for fixture, tooling, and equipment designStrong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced, cross-functional environmentExperience working effectively with internal engineering teams and external manufacturing partners within a CM/JDM operating modelThis role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $110,000-$145,000 Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.
In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.
These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
