Role Brief:
As a Commercial Finance Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Commercial Finance Lead in delivering insightful financial analysis, business partnering, and strategic decision-making. You will leverage your analytical skills to provide financial insights that drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence across the business.
This person will become a trusted member of the business and an extension of their teams, someone whose input is proactively sought by the business and support delivery of re-engineered financials that provide headline trends and key areas of improvement in the business. The Commercial Finance Analyst will be an excellent communicator and can deal effectively with financial and non-financial people and is focused on building and maintaining excellent working relationships across the business.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Commercial Finance Lead and wider Finance and Strategy teams to deliver accurate and insightful financial analysis, forecasts, and reporting.
  • Support commercial decision-making through detailed modelling of new business opportunities, client profitability, and investment cases.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and dashboards to provide clear, actionable insights to key stakeholders.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis and provide explanations for key trends and deviations.
  • Work with the Commercial team to evaluate commercial deals and tenders/bids, including pricing and contract analysis, as well as rolling revenue forecasts and revenue reporting by key customers.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, particularly on vendor and department related spend, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and target.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Product, Operations, etc.) to drive performance improvements and efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting through automated dashboards and data quality.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for senior management, board meetings, and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Support strategic transactions and other special projects as they arise working closely with both the Commercial Finance Lead as well as Executive Leadership.
 
Requirements:
  • Part-qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with 2+ years of experience in a similar role (e.g., commercial finance, FP&A, or management accounting).
  • Strong financial modelling skills, with proficiency in Excel and data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Experience in supporting commercial decision-making in a high-growth environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to distil complex information into clear and actionable insights.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a SaaS or subscription-based business is an advantage. 
  • Team player and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Highly motivated and takes a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Strong analytical ability and excellent numerical skills, with strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to prioritise to meet business needs. 
  • High energy with a “can do” attitude, a positive demeanour, a sense of purpose and the ability to have fun and adapt to the Spectrum.Life culture 
  • The potential to take on increasingly senior roles within Spectrum.Life.
