About the role:

The Streaming Media Engineer is responsible for architectural design, implementation, and documentation of an on-prem and cloud-based live ABR video encoding environment. The engineer is also responsible for reliable, consistent operation of these systems to provide a top quality video delivery experience for our customers.

Responsibilities:

Operate an MVPD-based live ABR video encoding and packaging system

Work with multiple teams to launch new services on the Fubo platform
Ensure production environment by monitoring availability, system health, application health/performance, and trends to identify where anomalies happen
Provide Tier 2 support as needed

Improve reliability, quality, and availability of our world class streaming platform

Measure and optimize system performance, push our capabilities forward, and innovate to continually improve
Gather/analyze metrics from compute, infrastructure and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
Partner with dev ops teams to improve service availability/uptime through rigorous testing and release procedures

Provide primary operational support for hardware in our data centers

Perform routine maintenances as needed, possibly overnight
Participate in an on-call rotation and act as a subject matter expert for Fubo internal groups

Required Skills:

Remote and onsite operation of a data center environment

Demonstrable knowledge of data center environments

Servers, Routers, Power Distribution, Cabling

Root cause identification, triage and mitigation
Systems Engineering

Log aggregation tools.
Application Monitoring tools (Grafana/Prometheus)
Software Development / Engineering experience in automation, tools, or dashboards

Networking

TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, DHCP, NTP.

Track record of successful practical problem solving, excellent written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills
Ability to create disaster recovery plans, network diagrams, and other data, security, and risk mitigation plans
Experience with testing environments, and development of scenarios
Experience with script writing/automation using languages such as Python, Ruby, etc. and utilizing REST API’s for configuration/feedback loop

The Ideal Candidate will also:

Background in MVPD-based Video Systems

Video/Audio codecs such as AVC, HEVC, AAC, E-AC3
Packaging methods including HLS/DASH/CMAF
Multimedia transport protocols such as: RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, Zixi
Alternate content workflows in ABR ecosystem (ESAM, ESNI/SCTE-224, etc)
DRM and content encryption, including 3rd-party integrations
CDN vendors and their systems (e.g. Akamai, Level3, Fastly, etc.)
Familiarity with cloud deployments (Docker, AWS EC2/ECS, Google Cloud Compute/Storage)

Fubo’s minimum base pay for this role if hired in Colorado is $120,000 per year; maximum base salary for this role is $155,000 per year. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Fubo's equity plan, annual cash bonus plans, unlimited PTO, and a full range of medical benefits. Final offer amount will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by multiple factors, including years and depth of experience and expertise, location and other business considerations.
