MLB Product and Engineering team is looking for an experienced Product Manager - Commerce and Payments. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining MLB’s foundational Commerce platform that serves millions of baseball fans and processes millions of transactions across MLB.tv, Club Products and other supported lines of businesses. We are looking to make transformational changes to our e-commerce and payments ecosystem and enable an omnichannel commerce and payments experience to our fans as they interact with Baseball across a broad range of touchpoints. This role will focus on enabling best in class fan experience, growing subscribers and revenue by introducing seamless methods of payments, building customer wallets and optimizing commerce platform. Additionally, this role will focus on building necessary controls from a compliance, fraud and security perspective. CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager, supporting e-commerce / payments platforms

  • Understanding of various components of the e-commerce ecosystem, payment processing and associated customer experience

  • High degree of product execution and experience from detailed requirements gathering through rollout and training

  •  Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving and presentation skills

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as scrum or kanban

  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a cross-functional team

  •  Fortitude to remain calm and react appropriately in high-pressure situations

  • Self-starter who is energetic & enthusiastic, confident, adaptable & fan-oriented

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • A love for Baseball!

  • Previous experience in e-commerce / payments supporting subscriptions business models

  •  Experience in building or managing large scale commerce platform in retail / media and entertainment domain

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  •  Build and maintain the next gen Commerce and Payments Platform supporting MLB.tv, Club products and other supported lines of businesses

  • Focus on the fans, identify growth opportunities and define new features 

  • Analyze commerce/payments data and provide recommendations for enhancements

  • Partner extensively with the business teams to support revenue and fan growth, support new acquisition, retention strategies, strategic partnerships and subscriptions auto renewals

  • Work with key stakeholders across the enterprise to build consensus, prioritization frameworks and roadmaps

  • Ensure optimal controls throughout the platform from a security, compliance and fraud perspective

  • Create and manage roadmaps, features, day to day planning activities and rollouts by effectively partnering with engineering partners and stakeholders across MLB

  • Effectively support the product design, engineering and QA teams throughout sprint cycles by proactively removing roadblocks

  • Keep a pulse on the e-commerce and payments industry, including best practices and trends. Bring an outside perspective to the Baseball industry

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $105,000 to $135,000.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and the terms of official plan documents which may be modified or amended from time to time.
