As a Lab Technician at WHOOP, you will play a key role in building prototypes, testing new product concepts, organizing and maintaining the engineering labs, and soldering/reworking PCBAs. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers to fabricate components, fixtures, and assemblies.
The ideal candidate is capable of both electrical and mechanical work and has excellent organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment. You must have a willingness to work hands on with microelectronics, cable assemblies, adhesives, and fixture assembly.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Electrical rework and analysis of PCBAs and other componentsMechanical assembly of small, intricate componentsManagement of Electrical, Mechanical, and Automated Test labsPart measurements - microscope, vision system (i.e. OGP), calipersElectrical and mechanical product testingCatalog parts and manage part inventoryConduct and report on failure analysis for prototypes and consumer returnsSmall scale manufacturingPerform firmware updates3D printer maintenance and managementQUALIFICATIONS: 3+ years of experience in a similar positionElectrical experience with reworking PCBAs, building wire harnesses, solder reflow, and replacing BGA and 0201 or smaller resistors & capacitorsMechanical experience with prototype assembly, product testing, and 3D printingPrevious experience with building test circuit boards and test fixturesStrong interest in consumer electronics, specifically health and fitness wearables.Associate degree in an Engineering or Science field or a high school diploma with relevant experienceThis role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
