Position Summary: Excel Sports Management is seeking an experienced Director to lead field and experiential marketing initiatives for a key client in the financial services industry.  This person provides end-to-end field and experiential marketing solutions, including strategy development, event identification, planning, management, execution, and reporting. The ideal candidate is passionate about events, creative ideation, and executing with excellence. This person is a self-starter who can lead a team to create events with lasting impact. This role will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day management of key clients’ field and experiential marketing initiatives
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships that result in increased opportunities and expansion of scope
  • Interact daily with clients and all appropriate agencies/properties to manage event initiatives
  • Lead the direction and development of client’s field marketing and experiential strategy and annual calendar of events, as well as creation of unique experiences
  • Provide event portfolio analysis, identifying relevant opportunities that support strategic recommendations for the clients
  • Create planning tracking tools and onsite materials, e.g., briefing documents, staffing plans, delivery schedules, key contacts, run-of-show, etc.
  • Negotiate contracts, securing products and services based on client needs
  • Provide onsite leadership and management of field/experiential events
  • Lead event ROI tracking and measurement processes
  • Build, sustain, manage, and reconcile budgets, along with providing client budget updates along each step of the process
  • Direct internal resources and vendors to be accountable for delivering work to the highest standards
  • Manage direct reports, ensuring we are providing flawless client service and a second-to-none agency experience
  • Understand the businesses and industries of our clients and focus on creating new opportunities for the brand and our business
  • All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience planning and executing field marketing and experiential events, direct experience with financial services clients a plus
  • Experience working with a variety of vendor types: creative, production, venue, entertainment, etc.
  • Sports marketing and agency experience managing day-to-day relationships with clients, agencies, and leading a team

  • Curious event planner that has multi-channel experience across a variety of different disciplines
  • Ability to self-start and work within a small team and dynamic organization
  • Exceptional communicator (written and oral) who overdelivers and strives to impress everyone around him/her with work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond
  • Experience managing day-to-day relationships with clients, agencies, and vendors
  • Strong sense of ownership, ensuring goals are met and high-level standards are upheld
  • Able to think strategically, creatively, and problem-solve independently (and in groups)
  • Excellent time management and be able to multitask effectively in fast-paced environments
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and the technical/computer skills to create and deliver client presentations
  • Goal-oriented, results-driven and be able to maintain composure under pressure
  • Able to communicate and connect effectively and personably, recognizing the need to adjust communication style according to the audience
  • Proactive and productive, recognizing opportunity and implementing procedures to achieve better job efficiencies
  • Driven to increase industry knowledge and work to stay ahead of the curve
  • Uncompromised ethics, integrity and discretion with company and client information
  • Engages in internal activities (team building, events, off-sites, etc.) and embraces internal culture
  • Ability to travel frequently and work nights, weekends and holidays

 

The pay range for this position is $125,000 - $170,000 per year. This position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus.

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
