The Coordinator, Draft Operations will play a pivotal role in facilitating the planning and execution of various initiatives related to the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft and amateur scouting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with other departments and Clubs on the planning and execution of the MLB Draft, including managing the player invitation process and on-site player experience.
  • Collaborate with USA Baseball and other institutional partners to design and implement multiple amateur scouting initiatives, including the MLB Draft Combine, Appalachian League, and MLB Draft League.
  • Work with MLB Technology on the development of MLB IT systems to support the MLB Draft and scouting processes, including Electronic Baseball Information System (EBIS), MLB Draft Prospect Link (DPL), and Draft Prospect ID Mapping (DPIM).
  • Work with players, families, advisors, institutional partners, and scouts to establish strong relationships that will help support player development and scouting pipelines.
  • Assist with the development and communication of MLB policies and procedures related to the MLB Draft and domestic amateur scouting
  • Oversee project-related initiatives related to scouting and video to engage on larger departmental needs
  • Edit and cut high volume of prospect videos with a focus on quality, consistency, and turnaround time
  • Ability to create, maintain, review and process video logs, with focus on continuous improvement of standard practices
  • Serve as a collaborator with internal video technology team to optimize video database upload, storage, management, and access
  • Be an active member in identifying new video and data technologies by exploring latest innovations in software and hardware
  • Work across Baseball Operations and collaboratively with MLB Network to optimize overall MLB video-related initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Must be a college graduate
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong quantitative background including experience working with large datasets and performing complex analysis
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must work well independently and collaboratively
  • Experience organizing and facilitating conferences/events and on-field baseball events
  • Strong analytical skills, including with Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of amateur baseball video, and scouting/player evaluation, and MLB Draft is a plus
  • Proficiency in video editing, preferably using iMovie or Adobe Creative Suite Products preferred

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $$58,500 - $62,500.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees. MLB offers employees a full range of best in class benefits with no employee contributions towards medical, dental, and vision coverage premiums, as well as incentive and recognition programs, life insurance and automatic employer 401k contributions. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and the terms of official plan documents which may be modified or amended from time to time.
